Drive (2014) for two pianos. This piece is influenced by the Californian journey from the Bay Area to Los Angeles on Highway 101. For those that may not have driven up the coast of California, it is one of the most beautiful scenic drives that I have experienced. The ocean on one side, redwood trees on the other, winding passages, Highway 101 has everything a road trip needs. That parts of the trip involve narrow cliff-side roads makes it all the more thrilling.

Brama Sukarma is a Brooklyn-based composer and performer. Growing up in California, Brama began formal study of music when he was 7, first by playing piano and later excelling on the trombone. He began composing music when he was 16 and was hooked by the composition process. Upon moving to New York to pursue music, Brama was fortunate to study with many luminaries including Vijay Iyer and David Del Tredici while studying at New York University and The City College, respectively. Brama’s music is influenced by the traditions of Baroque, Minimalism, Indonesian gamelan, and Americana folk. Brama has written music for film and theater, regularly performs and records trombone throughout the city and has various solo projects, while still focusing on his chamber music writing.
