I was inspired to write this piece as I was taking the South Shore Train from Chicago to the Indiana Dunes. It attempts to depict the excitement, energy, and the little bit of wistfulness that I feel when traveling to a new place. The piece is simpler in its harmony and design than my other works in order to be more accessible to wider audiences.

Carolyn Borcherding is a composer interested in both acoustic and electroacoustic styles with abstract sounds and eclectic harmonies. Being fascinated with fiction literature, she likes to connect her music to a theme, place, character, or image. She is currently a graduate student at Western Michigan University where she assists with teaching electronic music classes and gives one-on-one lessons to electronic composition students.
